Colour Profiles

Your advert MUST to be prepared with the correct colour profile (iso/icc profile) for the method of printing, listed under each publication below. This ensures that the ad you have designed will print as you intend it to. Having the wrong colour profile embedded may mean that when printed, colours look either washed out or over saturated, with too much or too little contrast and various other unpleasant results. If you are not comfortable with colour management or embedding profiles, please speak to one of our approved ad delivery vendors who can ensure your advert prints perfectly.

Our primary ad delivery vendor Qmuli can convert your file from one icc profile to any other, click below to convert your file with them now.

How do incorrect ICC profiles affect my artwork?

SImply put, when you design an advert, you want it to look the same in every publication regardless of what type of printer they use. ICC profiles optimise your creative’s colour for that printer’s settings so that it appears the way it was originally designed. Shown opposite is one piece of artwork, with each band output on a different printer, without changing the colour profile to the correct one for each (the original colour is second from left):

Our primary ad delivery vendor Qmuli can easily convert your file from one profile to any other, there is a small charge for this service but will result in an advert that is perfectly specced for the product it is going in.

Does News UK provide colour mathcing to proofs?

News UK does NOT colour match proofs unfortunately, as our printing presses are as close to fully autonomous as you can get.

The printing systems we use are calibrated to the finest of tolerances, and actively monitor colour values on each plate to make sure there is no deviation from our colour profiles while printing.

In essense, so long as you have prepared your files to the ICC colour profile we have designated for your product, then the printing process will replicate those colour values.

We do however always advise seeking the expertise of a reprographic studio (www.qmuli.com) to help guide you on how best to implement our icc profiles and colour balance your ad to ensure the most accurate and impactful printing.
